The Role The Brenda Strafford Foundation is seeking a compassionate and qualified Registered Dietitian to join our multi-disciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will take the lead in ensuring residents receive high-quality, individualized nutritional care that supports their health, safety, and overall well-being. As our Dietitian , you will:
- Lead clinical nutritional assessments and develop individualized care plans in accordance with the Minimum Data Set – Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS-RAI).
- Plan and oversee a five-week rotating menu in alignment with Canada’s Food Guide.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and the kitchen team to ensure dietary needs, including texture-modified diets and enteral feeding, are met.
- Provide education to residents, families, and team members on nutrition, hydration, and safe feeding practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, Resident Council, Family Advisory Committee, and interdisciplinary care conferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing nutritional assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
- Provide leadership in restorative feeding, pleasurable dining, and hydration programs.
- Document resident care and maintain detailed dietary records.
- Contribute to resident safety and uphold ethical standards

Who We're Looking For
- Degree in Nutritional Science from an accredited institution.
- Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (must be maintained annually).
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility (preferred).
- Strong skills in clinical nutrition, communication, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- A passion for client-focused care and enhancing quality of life for seniors.
