COMMERCIAL CREDIT ANALYST

Join Tandia as a Commercial Credit Analyst and become a pivotal force in shaping our commercial credit landscape!
You will be based at our corporate office in Burlington, Ontario with the current hybrid requirement of three-days in office.
Role Preview
The main responsibilities of the Commercial Credit Analyst include:
- Credit Underwriting: providing excellent commercial credit underwriting and conducting annual reviews.
- Risk Assessment: offering advice and assessing risks on the existing portfolio.
- Insights and Trends: providing insights on emerging trends and potential risks based on current underwriting practices and economic conditions.
- Policy and Procedure Updates: suggesting improvements to credit underwriting quality through policy and procedure updates.
- Model Testing: testing model assumptions and recommending modifications or adjustments as needed.
We are looking for someone who:

Has completed a university degree in the field of Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics or a combination of education and applicable work experience.

Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive experience in credit underwriting and/or account management in commercial lending within a financial institution; credit union experience is considered an asset.

Is an independent expert in financial analysis, risk assessment and lending and credit writing practices.

Possesses strong mathematical skills, including proven ability to review and understand financial statements as well as financial ratios and assessments which support commercial applications.

Has a proven track record of delivering exceptional member service and is able to identify new opportunities and solutions for members during the credit review process; prepares competitive credit packages in a timely manner.

Is experienced at managing a commercial portfolio within the financial industry; credit union commercial experience is considered an asset as well as project and construction finance experience.

Uses applicable resources to keep current on emerging trends and developments and enhance knowledge of the credit union, related tools, technology and processes.

Is skilled in advanced functions with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook and experience with commercial lending software is considered an asset (e.g., nCino).

Is comfortable working full-time hours and with deadline and time constraints with an understanding that hours of work may extend beyond the normal work week.
