You are
A Physiotherapist. You will provide Physiotherapy assessment, intervention and consultation/training Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, their families and/or caregivers, enrolled in Manitoba Possible’s Communication Centre for Children (CCC) program. The successful applicant will work in the Winnipeg region with workspace in the SSCY Center.
Manitoba Possible’s CCC therapists work as an interdisciplinary team of OTs, PTs and SLPs providing services to preschool children who have developmental and/or physical disabilities. These consultative services are provided in the child’s natural environment – home/ daycare/ nursery school.
This is a .5 EFT position.
Your Role
- Provides Physiotherapy services pertaining to each child’s individual needs to families and caregivers in a community setting.
- Clinical reporting in accordance with discipline and agency standards.
- Confidentiality. Ensure compliance and adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards as outlined in professional standards of practice and agency, provincial and federal guidelines.
- Collect and review consumer information in order to initiate assessment in accordance with established timelines.
- Select and administer appropriate evaluation procedures and tools.
- Interpret, document and communicate evaluation information through written and verbal reports.
- Participate in conferences/meetings pertinent to consumers specialized needs.
- Participate and contribute to the development of each child’s programming at Intake/Review meetings and Individual Education Plan (IEP)/School Transition meetings.
- Complete monthly statistical records regarding consumer caseload, and submit mileage, additional expenditures, etc. in a timely manner.
- Establish effective collaborative relationships with consumers and collaterals.
- Demonstrate leadership within the team through identification of program/consumer needs, issues or service gaps, and participating on community committees, as requested.
- Conduct/assist in formal presentations and workshops.
- Maintain and replenish inventories of equipment, materials and supplies.
- Participate in student supervision or peer mentoring/supervision as requested.
- Participate/contribute regularly to meetings pertaining to program development and /or professional development.
- Complete CPR/First Aid training according to program requirements.
- Practice in compliance with Privacy legislation (i.e., Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), & The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What You Know
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy
- Licensure with appropriate provincial governing body
- Certification with the appropriate federal governing body
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the required field
- Experience with consultative/collaborative service delivery model
- Commitment to family-centered practice
- Strong organizational/communication skills with sensitivity to diversity
- Demonstrated basic knowledge and experience with computers and applications related to the position
- Ability to work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
- Physical health necessary to meet demands of the position
- Fluent proficiency in ASL would be an asset
- Knowledge of Deaf Culture an asset
