About the role

Are you an electrical expert in large-scale construction projects?

The Electrical Project Manager plays a critical role in overseeing new construction and renovation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. They work closely with Site Supervisors, Superintendents, Vendors, Engineers, and key stakeholders to drive project success. Multiple projects, ranging in size and complexity, are managed simultaneously.

This individual must be goal-oriented, highly organized, and an exceptional communicator both inside and outside the organization. Extensive electrical knowledge within the construction environment is essential, as this role is responsible for developing practical electrical solutions and providing detailed, accurate project pricing. A deep understanding of contract management, building construction, and diverse electrical installation methods is also required. Role and Responsibilities

Contract Ownership and Compliance

  • Own full responsibility for the contract; thoroughly understand all terms and conditions, manage project performance against the contract scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Proactively identify, document and communicate any deviations such as delays, changes, or claims through proper notices and documentation.

  • Review all supporting contract documents (drawings, specifications, and addenda) for scope clarity, role delineation, and risk identification.

  • Participate in dispute resolution and claim negotiations as required to protect the company’s interests.

Project Planning and Financial Management

  • Develop detailed project plans including schedules, budgets and resource allocations.

  • Prepare and review cost estimates, track expenditures, and update all financial reporting, including forecasts, cash flow projections, and monthly billings.

  • Identify potential cost overruns early and implement corrective actions.

  • Price and obtain approvals for proposed change orders.

Execution and Coordination

  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, architects, suppliers, subcontractors, and other trades to effectively execute project scope.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients and consultants, maintaining
    strong communication and addressing concerns promptly.

  • Collaborate closely with the Field Superintendent, Planning, and Site Supervisors to ensure efficient project delivery.

  • Hold Site Supervisors and crews accountable for achieving project KPIs related to schedule, productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance; provide direction and support to ensure targets are met.

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and other project correspondence with support from Project Coordinators.

  • Manage procurement and coordination of primary materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.

Quality, Safety and Site Management

  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems (e.g., power distribution, lighting, fire alarm).

  • Conduct regular site visits to review progress, safety, and quality; attend pre-construction and site meetings as required.

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (CSA, ESA, OHSA).

  • Conduct final inspections and ensure close-out documentation is accurate and thorough.

Professionalism and Leadership

  • Maintain accurate records of project progress, issues, and communications to protect the company at all times.

  • Foster a solutions-oriented approach to challenges and promote effective teamwork.

  • Consistently demonstrate and uphold Kraun’s SPARK values and represent the company professionally.

  • Effectively utilize company systems (e.g., Procore, ERP, etc.) for project tracking, reporting, and documentation.

  • Lead post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 309A Construction-Maintenance Electrician License or proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager

  • Proficient at using Trimble Accubid Estimating and Change Order software

  • Minimum five years of relevant electrical project management experience in Industrial-Commercial-Institutional projects

Preferred Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code, fire alarm code and Ontario Building Code

  • Must be detail-oriented and possess effective English written and verbal communication skills

  • Practical interpersonal, organizational and planning skills and experience managing complex projects

  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision

  • Ability to understand all types of drawings and technical specifications

  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft suite and able to learn software programs quickly

  • Excellent at fostering relationships inside and outside of an organization

  • Comfortable in a schedule-driven environment and able to constantly meet deadlines and manage work tasks efficiently

  • Thorough working knowledge of the electrical construction industry

Working Environment & Physical Demands

  • Frequent visits to construction sites requiring an Ontario Driver's License in good standing
