Required Qualifications

  • Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree from a recognized Social Work education program required.
  • Experience within the last year in an adult acute care setting.
  • BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification issued within the last 12 months prior to commencement of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in multiple areas within an acute care setting such as Maternity/Child; Emergency Department/Internal Medicine and Medical/Surgical units.
  • Experience within the past three years working in a fast-paced multidisciplinary setting.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work across multiple areas or departments on short notice.

Other Details

As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Your Opportunity: Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan. FMC has a Neuro Tertiary Unit as well as the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary. The present caseload for this position is a Float position, with the potential for coverage on any unit/service as required. The caseload for all positions within the Allied Health department may be subject to change based on operational considerations.
