The Department of Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Senior Field Services Specialist with the Forestry and Peatlands Branch.
Duties:
The Senior Field Services Specialist is responsible for the provincial Forestry Field Services Program. This program includes all Branch field projects to support the Department’s commitment to sustainably managing Manitoba’s forests and peatlands. This position plans, schedules, supervises, administrates and reports on all aspects of the Branch’s field programs including recruiting, training, directing, and keeping safe up to 30 technical staff.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post–secondary education in forestry, natural resource management or other related discipline
- Strong experience leading and supervising teams, including conducting recruitment and training
- Project management experience, including the ability to lead multi-stakeholder groups to achieve project objectives within pre-determined deadlines
- Experience in procurement, budgeting, and financial management within the Manitoba government framework
- Knowledge of the provincial Forestry Field Services Program and demonstrated experience implementing forestry projects within a Manitoba government environment, with an emphasis on planning and organizing work plans
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to build consensus to achieve organizational objectives
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Strong verbal communication skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Strong written communication skills
- Proficient with use of Microsoft Office applications, Apple, GPS and GIS hardware and software
Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must be able to travel to remote locations throughout the province of Manitoba as required

Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends as required
