This opportunity is supported through The Work Study Employment Program, which is designed to provide work opportunities to Fanshawe College full-time post-secondary or post diploma students with a demonstrated financial need.

Summer Contract - Temporary Part-Time (May 2026 - August 2026)
Up to 24 hours of work per week
Summary
The FSU Communications & Engagement Assistant (Work Study) supports the Fanshawe Student Union’s (FSU) communication, outreach and marketing efforts. Under the guidance of the Communications Coordinator, this position will help create digital and traditional communications, develop compelling content, and assist with speech writing, media relations, and branding. This role ensures consistent messaging across internal and external platforms while engaging the student community.
This is a Work Study position open to full-time Fanshawe College students approved for the Work Study program.
Job Duties
Content Creation & Brand Support
- Assist in drafting internal announcements, promotional materials, and event communications.
- Help create engaging digital and traditional content, including social media posts, website updates, newsletters, and posters.
- Support the FSU in maintaining brand consistency across all communication channels.
Social Media & Digital Communications
- Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to develop creative and engaging social media content.
- Monitor trends and student engagement to suggest new content ideas.
- Ensure digital content adheres to accessibility standards and best practices.
Speech Writing & Media Relations Support
- Assist in drafting speeches, presentation notes, and talking points for FSU representatives.
- Help with basic media relations tasks, such as drafting press releases or preparing media lists.
- Support event promotion and assist with on-site communications coverage.
Campus Engagement & Promotions
- Assist with promotional activities, including distributing materials and engaging students.
- Participate in on-campus initiatives to enhance student awareness of FSU services and events.
- Work with the team to brainstorm and implement creative campaigns.
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Track engagement metrics and compile basic reports on communication initiatives as requested.
- Help maintain communication archives and digital asset organization.
- Provide general administrative support for the Student Engagement team.
Requirements
- Must be a full-time Fanshawe College student (preference for those in Marketing, Communications, or related programs).
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms and content creation.
- Interest in media relations, branding, and public communications.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
