Reporting to the Manager of Systems Development & Integration, the ServiceNow Developer is a key member of the ServiceNow Operational team, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable solutions on the ServiceNow platform, including custom applications built using App Engine. This role collaborates closely with clinical stakeholders, enabling departments such as Finance and Human Resources, IT teams, and project managers to gather requirements, implement best practices, and deliver solutions across core modules such as Incident, Change, Request, Asset, CMDB, and Knowledge Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of ServiceNow application development, including intake, requirements gathering, analysis, solution design, agile development, testing, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom applications using ServiceNow App Engine, aligning solutions with business goals and technical best practices.
  • Configure and extend core ServiceNow modules such as Incident, Change, Request, Problem, Asset Management, CMDB, and Knowledge Management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to translate business needs into effective, scalable ServiceNow solutions.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using ServiceNow reporting tools and integrate with external tools like Power BI as needed to support performance monitoring and analytics.
  • Design and implement integrations with third-party systems and enterprise applications using REST, SOAP, MID Server, and custom scripts.
  • Support, plan, and execute ServiceNow platform upgrades, including impact analysis, testing, and coordination of production releases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, defects, and performance issues related to ServiceNow applications and services.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of application design, configuration, workflows, integrations, and support processes.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing to elevate platform expertise across the team.
  • Evaluate new ServiceNow features and modules, recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, user experience, and platform capabilities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • College diploma (3-year program) or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in application development, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting solutions on the ServiceNow platform

  • Proven experience with core ServiceNow modules such as Incident, Change, Request, Asset, CMDB, and Knowledge Management

  • Strong proficiency with ServiceNow App Engine, Flow Designer, Studio, and scoped application development

  • Experience with ServiceNow platform upgrades, including planning, testing, and deployment

  • Solid understanding of integration technologies including REST, SOAP, MID Server, and experience with JSON and XML

  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and practical knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM)

  • Experience working within Agile and SDLC methodologies, including version control and CI/CD practices

  • ServiceNow certifications such as:

  • Certified System Administrator (CSA) – required or in progress

  • Certified Application Developer (CAD) – preferred or in progress

  • Other certifications (e.g., ITSM Implementation Specialist, Integration Hub Specialist) are considered strong assets

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL is an asset

  • Experience with ServiceNow Performance Analytics, reporting, or dashboards is an asset

  • Prior experience working in enterprise or Healthcare or regulated environments is an asset
