About Us

The Ministry of Social Services, Program Support delivers support services to the divisions of Disability Programs and Housing, Child and Family Programs, and Income Assistance. Our Branch partners with program staff and clientele to meet the needs of vulnerable citizens.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an individual who loves working with people and is an excellent communicator who learns quickly and can decipher and share information and processes with others in a simple manner. As a Client Care Representative, you are the initial contact person who works with individuals to assist in determining needs and potential services/programs within the Income Assistance program. You are an excellent listener, quick thinker and problem solver who provides information, assistance and advice in a non-judgmental manner and interacts respectfully, objectively, and empathetically.

As the initial liaison at the Income Assistance office, the Client Care Representative works in an integral role that understands the simplicity and complexities of providing customer service and working with a diverse clientele within a larger team by:

  • Listening and gathering information;
  • Identifying needs and matching to services and program deliverables and/or making referrals;
  • Providing information on processes, practices and programs;
  • Distributing forms, assisting with applications, and verifying completeness and correctness;
  • Advising, problem-solving, assisting and/or directing inquiries, questions, needs and services;
  • Documenting client service assistance interactions for the Client Centre or Case Manager; and
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to work towards solutions.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate typically has a background in office administration and previous work experience dealing with people to provide information and support. They will be a positive role model who enjoys helping and working with people. They will exemplify outstanding patience, understanding and customer service and will use their knowledge and previous work experience to:

  • Proficiently operate and maneuver within various computer systems, software, programs, applications and terminology and online devices such as cell phones;
  • Work with diverse clientele where barriers and lifestyle challenges may be present;
  • Familiar with various government programs and services; (Income Assistance - seen as an asset)
  • Tolerant and able to manage stress and conflict in a calm, rational and respectful manner; and
  • Manage conflict situations and interactions that result in a positive solution.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a high school diploma, and a post-secondary diploma or equivalent, or related work experience and training.
