About The Role We are looking for a highly technical Senior Data Engineer with minimum 7 years of hands-on experience building production-grade end-to-end data pipelines for Ontario One Call. Our ideal candidate demonstrates strong engineering discipline in Microsoft Fabric, advanced SQL, and Python, with proven ability to implement data quality controls, monitor pipelines, and troubleshoot independently with minimal escalation. They will excel in designing Lakehouse architectures, Data Factory orchestration, Dataflows, and notebook-based transformations to support enterprise reporting and operational analytics.
This hands-on, delivery-focused role requires working independently within established standards to integrate data from CRM, ticketing, telephony, and operational systems while maintaining documentation, lineage, and runbooks. The engineer must ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and trustworthiness to enable data-driven decision making across regulated public sector operations.
What You'll Do
Build and operate reliable production data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
Must Haves (7+ years each):
- End-to-end data pipeline development and maintenance in production.
- SQL and Python engineering expertise.
- Data quality controls, monitoring, troubleshooting with minimal escalation.
- Modern data platforms (Microsoft Fabric or equivalent enterprise environments).
Key Responsibilities
- Design/build/maintain data pipelines (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Dataflows, notebooks).
- Develop/optimize SQL transformations, data models, curated datasets.
- Build Python logic for ingestion, transformation, validation, automation.
- Implement data quality controls (validation, reconciliation, exception handling).
- Monitor pipelines, resolve failures/data issues independently.
- Integrate enterprise systems (CRM, ticketing, telephony, operational databases).
- Maintain documentation, data lineage, operational runbooks.
- Collaborate with Manager/Data Analysts to meet reporting standards.

- Hours: 7.25 hours per day (5 days)

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years data engineering/analytics engineering experience.
- Production Microsoft Fabric experience.
- Advanced SQL (complex transformations, performance optimization).
- Strong Python for data engineering/automation.
- Data quality controls and reliable pipeline operations.
- Cloud data platforms/modern architectures.
- Microsoft certifications preferred (Fabric Analytics Engineer, Azure Data Engineer).
Preferred: CS/Engineering degree, Power BI support, Git/CI-CD, regulated environments.
