The Ministry of Justice, Corrections and Policing Division, Regina Correctional Centre, is seeking a skilled, self-directed, and motivated individual with solid leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills who enjoys working outdoors. We are seeking a candidate who will demonstrate a strong commitment to working as part of the Outside Maintenance crew as well as supervising a crew of adult (male) inmates. Taking on the responsibilities as a team member of the Centre’s Outside Maintenance crew, the successful candidate will complete maintenance duties to maintain the facility grounds and provide supervision and direction to a group of inmate workers employed to the Centre’s staff maintenance crew. As a member of the Outside Maintenance crew, you will direct and supervise a group of inmates while being a positive role model and maintaining the integrity of the Justice System and the people it serves. Your duties will include inmate supervision, gardening, landscaping, field work, planting, harvesting, snow removal, operation of a vegetable cold storage, and other job-related tasks.
The successful candidate must have experience in the operation of commercial-sized tractors, bobcats and their related attachments, as well as smaller equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, and spraying devices. You will be required to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair this equipment on a regular basis. To be successful in this position, you must be able to work independently and as part of a team. You must have keen leadership skills, in order to provide direction and guidance to inmates in the completion of their daily duties, and solid observation and communication skills.
You must also have knowledge of storing/handling/mixing of gardening chemicals; the operation of greenhouses including germination, planting, soil preparation, tending, fertilizing, and harvesting; and workplace hazardous chemicals. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is also a must.
We are seeking a candidate who can guide, coach, and encourage inmates to enhance their performance and further develop their work and personal life skills. You must be a positive role model that will promote positive growth in a challenging environment.
To be successful in this position, you must model and demonstrate a commitment to the Ministry’s mandate to provide a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan, promotes safe and secure communities, and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.

Hours of Work**:** C - SGEU Regulated 37.33 - one day off every three weeks
Criminal Record Check Requirement**:** The successful candidate shall be subject to a Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector query, as a condition of employment
