Your day at NTT DATA
The Manager, Data Centre Facilities Engineering is a management role, responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day operations of the data center facility, ensuring its reliability, efficiency, and adherence to industry standards.
This management role collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive projects, manage resources, and implement strategies for optimizing performance and maintaining uptime in the data center environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Manages a multi-disciplinary engineering team to ensure business continuity of critical business center infrastructure.
- Guides on creative solutions to complex problems that arise in design and operation of mission critical systems.
- Manages the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to accomplish design intent, meet competitive landscape, and reduce cost.
- Researches new products, systems, and materials.
- Be an advisor to the Senior team to ensure deliverables meet company strategic goals.
- Ensures quality assurance checks of deliverables are conducted.
- Works with external suppliers as required aligning their activity with the organizations strategic goals for developing and operating cost effective, highly efficient, and reliable Data Centers.
- Provides expertise to other organization sectors internal to GDC, including CFOps, Construction, Commissioning, Client Success, and Sales.
- Guides on commissioning activities of new data center phases.
- Guides on troubleshooting advice including supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) for problems affecting efficient and resilient site operations.
- Guides internal Sales Engineering team in analyzing RFPs, responding to RFP questions, conducting training relevant systems and processes, and participating in client site visits.
To thrive in this role, you need to have:
- Advanced knowledge of at least one engineering domain ideally within a data center or similar environment.
- Advanced knowledge of various mission critical topologies.
- Advanced ability to lead and manage a team providing engineering support across the data center lifecycle.
- Advanced understanding of critical data center electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Must be detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment both virtual and in person.
- Ability to interact with individuals and groups both internally and externally.
- Advanced problem-solving skills coupled with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Organized and able to set priorities and meet deadlines and budgets.
Academic qualifications and certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline required.
- Professional Engineering license achievement preferred.
Required experience:
- Advanced experience managing multi discipline engineering teams within a business critical environment
