About the role
Practice Details:
Full spectrum Family Practice opportunity in an historic office in lovely Rossland, BC
The Associate Medical Clinic is in downtown Rossland, in a local heritage building. We have 4 doctors, part-time nursing and social work, and will be looking to expand PCN resources going forward.
We have 3 exam rooms and our administrative staff includes an office manager and 3 part-time MOAs. Our EMR is Telus CHR.
All the physicians at our clinic have mixed practices combining clinic work with work at KBRH (15 minutes from the clinic, which offers specialist services) or with other sub-specialties including Maternity Care, Palliative Care, Sexual Assault, Mental Health, Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine and Functional Medicine.
There are opportunities for hospital-based work at KBRH, ranging from ER and hospitalist shifts, OR assists, mental health and addictions work, and LTC patients.
The job has traditionally been 4 days per week, but is flexible, and job-sharing is also an option.
We have the lowest overhead in the region, and have all recently switched to the LFP payment model. We also work with medical learners on a regular basis.
As an associate in the practice, you have a lot of independence and control over your schedule, leaving you a lot of time to enjoy all the benefits of living in a small mountain town, of which there are many.
Kootenay Boundary (KB) is an early adopter of the Primary Care Network (PCN) approach, with teams of FPs, NPs, RNs, Allied Health, Aboriginal Health Coordinators and other clinical staff working together to increase patient attachment and improve patient care, access, and cultural safety in clinics across the region. To date, 30+ PCN staff have already been hired into the PCN and provide about 5,000 patient encounters per quarter, and more hires are underway. The KB PCN is based on a co-location model, building teams within existing primary care clinics. A learning culture approach, fostered through the KB PCN Learning Lab, links all PCN partners and encourages innovation, collective learning and spreading of successes.
