About Mount Milligan Mine Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer, Electrical to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.
This role operates on a rotation of 14 days on / 14 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.
Reporting to the Superintendent, Projects & Infrastructure the incumbent is responsible for electrical engineering scope within projects and infrastructure department. The ideal candidate would have experience in electrical & automation design, project management and mining, as well as brings a deep understanding of innovation and industry-leading best practices, along with an established reputation for operating within a culture committed to safety, environmentally sustainable operations, and to operating in a socially responsible manner.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Registration with EGBC as an EIT or P. Eng
- A university degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as, the Canadian Electrical Code, the Mines Act, and CSA M421, Use of Electricity in Mines.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the mining industry, preferably open pit
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good time management and prioritization skills
- Management of special projects and sub-contractors
- Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements
- Good data analytical skills.
- A university degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
About You The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of electrical designs and design standards across various projects
- Provide electrical technical support within all department projects and coordinate with external consultants and contractors as required.
- Manage small multidisciplinary projects from conceptual to detailed engineering through to construction support and commissioning as required.
- Review equipment specifications and tender documents for procurement of equipment including expediting orders to facilitate installation and construction.
- Reporting on a regular basis, technical report preparation, and excellent oral and written communication skills
- Collaborate with Mill and Mine electrical teams as required to complete projects.
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Scheduler role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Working Conditions
- Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 14x14, 12 hours per day
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO – TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
- Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
