About the role
Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Technical Trainer for its Regina, SK, location. Under the direction of the Training Centre Manager, the Technical Trainer position is responsible for assessing the development needs of Brandt’s Transportation dealership Parts and Service technicians in the areas of Paccar, Peterbilt and Cummins service operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with others, identify sources for, and as required help develop, suitable instructional and evaluation materials for Brandt’s service technicians in the areas of Paccar, Peterbilt and Cummins.
- Implement the service technician development program including:
- identifying employee development needs in all Brandt’s T&T Dealerships
- locating and/or coordinating development of professional quality curriculum; and
- in collaboration with others develop and implement the scheduling, coordination, and delivery of development training activities.
- Monitor, report on, and drive achievement of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) training metrics.
- Ensure employee development activities are aligned with continuous improvement in the areas of quality, LEAN, health and safety, and organizational performance by recording, monitoring, reporting, and integrating feedback and data.
- Actively contribute to and collaborate on the development and implementation of the company’s overall technician development paths, plans and schedules.
Development Needs
- Work with Operations, and Brandt’s Warranty, and T&T corporate product group and their original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to document the development priorities.
- Document and validate program plans to address development priorities.
- Identify resources for program plans.
- Monitor resource allocations and plan progress.
- As required, adjust plans based on needs.
Instruction Delivery and Instructional Materials
- Deliver training as a Certified Dealer Instructor or in-house subject matter expert.
- Ensure delivery and scheduling is efficient and maximizes instructor time.
- Develop professional quality, instructionally sound educational curriculum that enables students to efficiently, effectively and safely operate, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, repair and/or evaluate the working condition of heavy duty mobile equipment and associated systems.
- Identify sources for, and when directed to, help develop professional quality classroom, hands-on and online training courses and programs, and evaluation materials.
- Utilize various corporate systems in the organization and development of materials (e.g. Brandtnet).
- Ensure evaluations (tests, hands on demonstrations, etc.) are appropriate to measure trainee competence.
- Maintain an up-to-date catalogue of program materials including course outlines and descriptions.
- Use MS Office computer applications to manage course material (i.e. materials, procedures, manuals, handouts, charts, schematics and online presentations).
Program Implementation
- Schedule training delivery in collaboration with the Service Managers, Supervisors/Foremen, the Training Centre Manager, Training Coordinators, Training Administrators, and others.
- Communicate via Brandtnet or by other means (e.g. email) accurate and complete training schedules and course information.
- Ensure delivery and scheduling is efficient and maximizes instructor time.
- Ensure trainees complete any pre-requisite requirements by monitoring enrolments and completions.
- Document and report trainee evaluation scores and attendance, and report on performance against metrics.
- As required prepare and distribute Certificates of Completion to trainees, and arrange program completion recognition (e.g. graduations).
- In collaboration with others coordinate the delivery of other required training.
- Utilize various third-party systems (e.g. OEM learning management systems) in training program management and delivery.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in ongoing audits of program effectiveness.
- Ensure training materials and programs are relevant and current.
- Ensure communications and presentations meet Brandt’s brand guidelines.
- Meet other internal and external training standards for curriculum, reporting, etc.
- Gather feedback from students and others to continuously improve program content and delivery (e.g. by ensuring feedback is documented, collected and integrated).
Other
- Support operations efforts by analysing and responding to organizational development needs.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and directives, in particular those related to training such as pre-requisite completions, training durations, recording information, etc.
- Perform any additional work requested/required to meet the needs of the organization.
- Collaborate and liaise with outside agencies (e.g. OEMs, etc.) on behalf of Brandt.

- Demonstrates professionalism and recognizes the importance of the instructor’s role as leader in modeling health and safety, professional behavior and service excellence.
- Show initiative in learning about Brandt Tractor’s products and equipment and be committed to continuous improvement.
