Dispatcher / Operations Administrative Assistant
Standard Bus Contracting has an immediate opening for a Dispatcher / Operations Administrative Assistant to join our growing team. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of school bus runs while delivering outstanding customer service to driving staff, schools, parents, and the public. Day-to-day communication with stakeholders and exceptional organization, communication, and problem-solving skills are key factors for success in this role.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage bus routes, including creating or adjusting schedules using Bus Planner Software and knowledge of Whitehorse/Yukon
- Distribute schedules, update drivers, and maintain attendance sheets
- Communicate route vacancies to relevant departments
- Serve as a liaison between schools, parents, and Standard Bus to address inquiries and resolve concerns promptly and professionally
- Morning dispatching of school buses in collaboration with the operations team
- Attend meetings with EDU, school boards, and committees as required
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong map-reading skills with excellent knowledge of Whitehorse and Yukon road systems, schools, and community locations
- Previous administrative and/or dispatch experience preferred
- Class 2 driver’s license considered an asset
- Excellent phone etiquette and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and perform well under pressure
