Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a motivated Engineer in Training to support the delivery of complex Ports and Marine Terminals projects across British Columbia. In this position you will obtain foundational skills and knowledge to build your career upon. The opportunity is to provide support of the successful delivery of projects at all phases (planning, design, tendering, construction, maintenance) through conformance to Stantec’s Project Management Framework while in parallel developing design and construction skills/knowledge. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide EIT support to Engineers on varying sized projects.
  • Support Project Manager(s) / Director(s) in project delivery through initiation, planning, execution, monitor and control, and close-out activities and other PM support tasks.
  • Develop, track and update cost forecasts, maintain and update project cost reports, develop and update project schedules, support procurement and maintain document management systems through all phases of the project.
  • Support in the development of invoices, change orders, and management of payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.
  • Conduct material quantity take-offs, analysis/calculations, hand sketches, CAD Drafting, and other EIT support tasks.
  • Assist in reviewing drawings, drafting technical reports, memorandums and other technical documents.
  • Perform contract administration, coordination, contract development and other contract support tasks.
  • Participate and coordinate project team activities and interact effectively with Clients, Contractors, Engineers, Project Managers, and other consultants.
  • Coordinate and participate in technical proposal writing and other business development activities.
  • With guidance, assist with the preparation and distributions of high quality, accurate and timely documents such as: drawings, reports, minutes, communication logs, change management, and other required documentation.
  • Some travel may be required from time to time.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong computer skills and literacy in scheduling, technical writing, presentation, and other software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • General understanding of a project lifecycle including design and construction processes and requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Experience in Risk Management considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
  • Must be able to successfully work both collaboratively and independently.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 1-3 minimum years of relevant work experience in a professional environment.

Pay Range

  • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 67,100.00 - Max Salary $ 93,900.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
