Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the casual, non-union position of Summer Employment Coordinator in Parks & Recreation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review all summer job postings to ensure consistency and accuracy;
  • Promote Summer employment with HRM by attending job fairs, answering emails from the public, and distributing promotional materials;
  • Filter and sort all summer applicants through applicant tracking system (BrassRing) and provide hiring managers with pre-screened candidates;
  • Provide assistance to Community Recreation Coordinators on the summer hiring process to ensure consistency and adherence to the summer hiring process.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • At least one season/summer of experience working in HRM Recreation Programming;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of HRM Recreation summer programming service delivery considered an asset;
  • Experience in BrassRing software considered an asset.

Technical / Job-Specific Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR an asset;
  • Successful completion of all training requirements prior to start date.

Security Clearance Requirements: Security clearance requirements include Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check.

Please note – Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer’s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Casual, hourly

HOURS OF WORK: 15-35 hours per week; must be flexible as some evening and weekend work may be required.

SALARY: $21.50 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)

WORK LOCATION: Various community centres throughout Halifax Regional Municipality.
