Position Summary
- In this role, you will provide support to our Service Department whose tasks include the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various types of mechanical hardware and systems, ensuring they are restored to optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design & Documentation:
- Create, update, and maintain CAD drawings for machined and fabricated parts.
- Work with engineering staff to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specifications.
- Provide input for service/repair documentation and part drawings.
Procurement & Coordination
- Source, order, and track machined/fabricated components.
- Coordinate with vendors on lead times, cost, and quality.
- Oversee packaging and shipment of parts and assemblies.
After-Sales Parts & Service Support
- Maintain parts inventory (levels, generic part numbers, basic pricing updates).
- Recommend spare parts and service solutions based on system requirements.
- Generate service and shipment documentation (work orders, invoices, process flows).
- Support promotional or technical material for parts/service offerings.
Customer Support & Issue Resolution
- Assist with technical troubleshooting (mechanical hardware, basic process issues).
- Coordinate internally to ensure timely resolution of customer issues.
- Prepare service reports and communicate findings to engineering/operations.
- Provide occasional remote or on-site training (basic system use, maintenance).
Mechanical Assembly
- Assemble delicate or fine mechanical components as needed.
- Support installations and field service activities in coordination with senior staff.
Qualifications

Education: 3-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.

Experience: 3+ years experience in mechanical design, procurement, or technical coordination.

Skills:

Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.

Familiarity with high-vacuum processes (ion milling, PVD, thin-film deposition).

Proficiency in CAD (2D/3D) for part and assembly drawings.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Able to manage tasks from design through to shipment with minimal supervision.

Experience in parts/service support, customer communication, or technical troubleshooting is an asset.

Mechanical assembly experience with delicate systems is a plus.

- Permanent; Full time; Days; Monday to Friday; on-site at Halton Hills facility; Salary range: $31-$36/hour
