The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. As the Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Administrator based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, you will take the lead in managing the Government of the Northwest Territories' (GNWT) centralized geospatial data warehouse and shaping the enterprise GIS infrastructure that supports departments across the territory. You'll collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver high-performing data architectures and intuitive applications, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs. Your role will be central to enabling geospatial business intelligence, optimizing system performance, and supporting GIS practitioners with reliable, secure, and efficient solutions. Key strengths include:
- Expertise in administering Esri's Enterprise solutions and publishing secure geospatial services
- Strong knowledge of programming languages used in SDI administration for automation and system optimization
- Proven ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex multi-server geospatial environments
- Clear communication skills to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences and collaborate across departments
Key Qualifications:
- A University Degree, plus a post-secondary Diploma in GIS with an emphasis on developing and deploying spatial web-based applications and maintaining an enterprise GIS architecture, and a minimum of 3 years of recent and directly related work.
- Relevant education may include, but is not limited to, Computer Science, Geography, Biological Science, and Mathematics.
Equivalencies can include:
- A Master's Degree in a relevant field, plus 2 years of recent and directly related work experience with an emphasis on developing and deploying spatial web-based applications and maintaining an enterprise GIS architecture.
- A post-secondary Diploma, plus a post-secondary Diploma with an emphasis on developing and deploying spatial web-based applications and maintaining an enterprise GIS architecture, and a minimum of 5 years of recent and directly related work.
