We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our team on a temporary 4-month basis, providing paternity leave coverage. Working collaboratively across departments, you will balance day-to-day accounting responsibilities with opportunities to enhance systems and improve financial efficiency. You will also ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records by managing the general ledger, preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end processes, contributing to financial reporting, and assisting with budget and audit preparation. Bringing compassion and clarity to each interaction, you’ll help strengthen the financial foundation that supports remarkable care and remarkable careers across our organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Full-Cycle Accounting: Maintain a balanced and accurate general ledger, prepare journal entries in alignment with GAAP standards, perform reconciliations, support month end and year end processes, track leases, and update the fixed asset continuity schedule.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing regular financial reports for CDC and its subsidiary companies.
  • Audit Preparation: Support annual review activities, including investigating discrepancies and resolving audit inquiries.
  • Budgeting: Assist with preparation and monitoring to align with financial goals and operational plans.
  • Collaboration: Partner with other teams to accomplish organizational priorities and financial objectives.
  • Improve Processes: Contribute to enhancements in accounting systems, workflows, and procedures that drive sustainable change and strengthen financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Uphold Standards and Compliance: Promote adherence to protocols, processes, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
  • Expand Expertise: Engage in ongoing professional development, staying up to date on industry best practices to provide solutions and proactively identify and address issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education: Degree or diploma in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: An accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is considered an asset.
  • Industry Experience: Background working in a healthcare environment is beneficial.
  • Accounting Expertise: Experience across the full accounting cycle, including general ledger management, reconciliations, month end and year end processes, and financial reporting, preferably within a mid-sized organization.
  • Process Optimization Skills: Experience assessing and refining accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Technology Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of complex accounting tools and systems, including Sage 300 EFP, along with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • A Compassionate Approach: Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a highly developed interpersonal approach that builds trust across all levels of the organization.
  • A Continuous Learning Mindset: A history of engaging in professional growth and development.
