About the role We are looking for a passionate and innovative Manager in Training for our stores!
As Manager in Training (MIT), you will work closely with the Store and District Manager to develop skills and experience needed to become a successful Store Manager. This hands-on program combines operational learning, leadership coaching, and business development exposure in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be responsible for learning while delivering the highest standard of customer service, introducing hundreds of new customers to the wonderful world of loose-leaf tea and ensuring every customer leaves with a smile.

Responsibilities
- Ensure that store team’s deliver outstanding DAVIDsTEA Experience, while providing the highest level of customer service
- Lead by example through educating customers about the world of tea, DAVIDsTEA blends, products and accessories
- Deliver feedback and coaching on a regular basis to team members and promote a positive and fun team atmosphere
- Meet sales targets and achieve profitability by controlling costs (labour, supplies, inventory etc.)
- Oversee day-to-day operations, and delegate effectively to meet daily/weekly deadlines
- Adhere to the Food Safe principles and internal guidelines of beverage preparation and workplace safety guidelines
- Learn how to analyze sale results, identify trends, and assist in implementing action plans to meet store goals
- Ensure compliance with company polices and loss prevention procedures
- Closely collaborate with the Store Manager to develop store specific strategies and to implement them
- Establish DAVIDsTEA as a community contributor: create relationships with local businesses and participate in local events
- Partner with various Store Managers to learn all aspects of retail operations and people leadership
- Learn scheduling, coaching and performance management
- Shadow interviews and hiring decisions
- Demonstrate readiness by taking on ‘acting manager’ shifts

Requirements
- 2-3 years experience in a team lead role in retail/sales or customer service
- A friendly and upbeat personality
- Hands-on with a track record of consistently improving sales performance and team development
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
- Proactivity and ease in coaching and teaching others
- A self-starter with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Capability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing and fast-paced work environment
- Interest in tea and/or willingness to learn and become a tea expert
- Flexibility to move to a different store or province on short notice for career advancement
- Desire to grow into a Store Manager within 12-18 months
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Must be able to drive and work at multiple store locations
- Ability to stand, walk for entire shift - bend, reach, lift 25lbs
- Able to safely use a ladder/step stool to reach products
- Wear closed toes shoes for safety
