Job Description:

The Senior Field Applications Engineer (FAE) serves as a senior technical expert and trusted advisor to customers, providing advanced engineering support for the company’s products and solutions. This role bridges the gap between customers and internal engineering, sales, and product teams, ensuring successful product integration, design wins, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for key customers, providing in-depth product knowledge and application support.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer needs, propose solutions, and drive design-in opportunities.
  • Support customers throughout the product lifecycle, including pre-sales, design, development, and post-sales phases.
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and partners.
  • Analyze customer requirements and provide guidance on optimal product usage, system architecture, and integration.
  • Work closely with internal engineering, product management, and R&D teams to relay customer feedback and influence product development.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, escalating to engineering teams as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and technical stakeholders at customer sites.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior FAEs and other team members.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong track record of taking designs to production with a history of career development within an organization.
  • 8+ years of design experience in relevant product areas (e.g. embedded systems, software/firmware, hardware, ethernet).
  • Customer facing activity as a field applications engineer, technical support engineer, or a similar customer-facing engineering role.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with experience engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with product design cycles and customer design-in processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols relevant to the Microchip products.
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading technical teams.

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. The annual base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $195,000.*
