Huronia Transition Homes is non-profit organization working to end all violence against all women. We operate 5 primary programs, including La Maison Rosewood Shelter, a woman-centered organization that provides support to women who are fleeing violence, or are experiencing homelessness. We are committed to providing our services within an intersectional feminist and harm reduction integrated environment.
La Maison Rosewood Shelter (a program of Huronia Transition Homes) is currently hiring a full-time Crisis Counsellor, Shift 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, Friday to Monday**, (34 hours work-week).**
The successful candidate must possess:

Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and or equivalent life/work experience;

Knowledge of issues contained within the violence against women framework;
-
Experience working with women of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, socio-economic and linguistic needs;
-
Ability to provide immediate and responsive crisis counselling in person and by telephone to women experiencing abuse;
-
Ability to provide information, support, practical assistance, safety planning, resources, referrals and advocacy for women as needed;
-
Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
-
Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;
-
Ability to work independently and participate as a team member;
-
Communication skills in French or another language would be an asset.

We will continue to educate ourselves and our community on issues of oppression and liberation. This will lead to social change and to an end to violence against women. We will continuously monitor and evaluate our organization to ensure that our beliefs are being lived. In an attempt to reduce the negative impact of power imbalances we will share information, resources and knowledge with the women we serve. We will strive to make our properties and services more physically, geographically, linguistically, culturally and financially accessible to the women we serve.
