DIABETES EDUCATOR - REGISTERED DIETICIAN
(TEMPORARY MODIFIED FULL TIME - 0.8 FTE)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
One (1) temporary modified full time (0.8 FTE) Registered Dietician opportunity is available at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.
Responsibilities:
As a Registered Dietician, you provide counseling for a variety of client referrals, with a focus on Diabetes education. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Dietician participates collaboratively to support the nutritional care and educational needs of in/outpatient, their families and/or significant others. Must poses sound knowledge base of nutrition and in the prevention, care and management of diabetes.
Your clinical dietitian experience gained in an acute care hospital will provide you with the confidence to collaborate with your professional colleagues and act as a therapeutic consult for nutritional services staff.
Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized University

Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO)
-
Dietitians of Canada accredited internship completed (or equivalent approved experience)
-
Experience in Diabetes Education
-
Certified Diabetes Educator (preferred)
-
Knowledge of the principals of adult education and chronic disease management
-
Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
-
Proven organizational and critical-thinking skills;
-
Ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member;
-
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities;

Satisfactory performance and attendance required

Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date

Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
-
Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired
Additional qualifications include excellent oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and the capacity for both self-direction and collaboration within the context of an interdisciplinary team.
***This position will be based out of Groves Memorial Community Hospital, travel may be required to all sites within the Wellington Health Care Alliance. A valid driver’s license is required.
Hours of Work:

Salary: $46.35 - $54.22 per hour
