Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreman is responsible for supervising their assigned crew and equipment, ensuring that all tasks are performed according to contract specifications. The Foreman oversees day-to-day highway maintenance operations, coordinates with various functions, and ensures that work is carried out in a safe, efficient, and responsible manner. This role requires a strong focus on employee safety, materials management, expenses, permits, and regulatory compliance.

Ensure safety, quality, and environmental standards are met while planning, scheduling, and coordinating work to optimize efficiency and staffing

Enforce compliance with labor laws, specifications, and organizational policies to maintain regulatory adherence and smooth operations

Foster a culture of safety excellence, respect, and accountability, providing feedback, recognition, and development opportunities for team members

Support recruitment, selection, and training to build a skilled workforce, while engaging in personal development to enhance leadership skills

Oversee resource planning for people, equipment, and materials, managing timekeeping, work orders, and maintenance through online systems

Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, including Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC), to ensure smooth project coordination

Lead by example to promote high-quality service, continuous improvement, and adherence to QA/QC standards

Accurately track information computer programs including City Wide, InEight, ABS Billing, Titan GPS, Alberta One-Call, 511 Alberta, Intelex, and MS Office Suite.

Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in highway maintenance operations, preferably with leadership experience running crews
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
- Physically able to safely lift and carry45lbsregularly
- Available for shift work including evenings, nights and weekend as required
- Must live within 30 minutes of the shop
