WAGE RATE: $37.071 – $38.157
Reporting to the Manager, Surgical Services, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works collaboratively as a member of the inter-disciplinary team to provide care to those patients with a stable and predictable outcome within the defined professional scope of practice as set out by the CNO.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Ontario College of Nurses registration
- Two years recent acute care nursing experience
- Medication Certification and ability to practice
- Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
- Competency in surgical aseptic technique, urinary catheterization, medication administration, IV therapy, Enteral feeding. POCT, wound care and drain care, PCA, chest tubes, epidural analgesia and monitoring patient receiving blood and blood products
- Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
- Adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassment
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
Preferred
- Completion of PACU nursing course
