About the role

Position Purpose

The Digital Learning Designer (Course Design and Delivery Specialist) is an integral member of the growing Course Design and Delivery (CDD) team at the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). This role combines creation of learning materials with course design and administrative support to ensure high-quality training experiences for Alberta’s construction industry.

Through ACSA’s structured mentorship program, the Digital Learning Designer will develop expertise in adult education principles and occupational health and safety practices while contributing to the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of ACSA’s training programs. This position is ideal for a motivated, learner-focused professional seeking to grow their instructional skills within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate course development projects to ensure completion within scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Support the development of new learning materials by conducting research and collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Apply basic graphic design and desktop publishing principles to produce high-quality, brand-consistent materials.
  • Assist in building and revising PowerPoint presentations to ensure seamless integration of instructional content and branding standards.
  • Design and build engaging eLearning and virtual instructor-led training (vILT) experiences.
  • Develop and maintain Adobe Connect virtual classrooms (setup, troubleshooting, live support).
  • Manage all aspects of Adobe Connect, including classroom setup, troubleshooting, updates, and live instructor support.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to research and develop new learning content.
  • Review and validate student assignments for accuracy and certification consistency.
  • Provide operational support, cross-training on various tactics, and ensure continuity and coverage during vacation periods.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A suitable combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.

  • Education:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, and/or certificate in Adult Education, Instructional Design or related field.

  • Experience:

  • 3+ years relevant experience in instructional design, virtual learning platform management, course material development, and graphic design.

  • Certificates

  • Working towards completion of the National Construction Safety Officer or National Health and Safety Administrator (NCSO/NHSA) designation is considered an asset.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently as a strong and contributing member in a team environment.

  • Excellent customer satisfaction and communication skills are essential.

  • Technology proficiency capable of providing technical support as necessary.

  • Critical thinker with the ability to think on your feet.

  • Exhibits professionalism in representing Your ACSA and our commitment to delivering top-tier health and safety education.

Logistics

  • Daily work hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • This position will have the potential for a hybrid work model (ACSA facility, home office).
  • This position requires some travel and weekend work.
  • Reporting to the Manager of Course Design and Delivery and is under the direction of the Course Design and Delivery Team Lead.

**Salary: $**72,203 – $77,708
