Our Foster Care program in Central Alberta is seeking a Full Time Permanent Foster Care Support Worker
Foster Care provides safe, caring homes to children and youth ages 0 to 18 who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to live with their own families. Committed and highly skilled staff and foster parents ensure that individual social, educational, emotional and physical needs of the children are met until they are able to return home, are adopted or another permanent solution is arranged for their care. Children are eligible for Foster Care if they have been removed from a home situation and are determined by Child and Family Services as needing an alternative home.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma at minimum, preferred Degree directly related to Human Services
- Required 1 year of frontline human services experience, preferred 3 years of human services work related to working with families
- Proof of Membership in Professional Association (when applicable)
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture
- Knowledge of parent/child relationships and family dynamics
- Basic First Aid Level C with Adult, Child, and infant CPR &AED
- Suicide Intervention Training & De-Escalation Training
- Intervention Record Check & Criminal Record Check with the vulnerable sector
- Class 5 driver’s license, clean drivers abstract and reliable vehicle for occasional client transportation
- Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
- Knowledge and experience within the Signs of Safety framework would be an asset
- Preferred experience in the CFS System
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain Foster Parent training plans
- Travel to the Foster Homes located in Central Alberta at minimum twice a month
- Ensure the continuous physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of designated children are being met
- Facilitate and support the youth’s relationship with their birth and extended family
- Ensure that culturally based services are available to all children in the homes
- Request and coordinate psychiatric, psychological, and academic assessment when appropriate
- Maintain treatment goals, treatment tasks and report on measurable outcomes
Wage Range: $27.28 - $30.51 per hour. Wage to be negotiated based on education and directly related experience.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Flexible schedule required with availability to work evenings and weekends.
Location: This position will be based out of Red Deer, Alberta but will require travel throughout Central Alberta, travel paid at $0.57/KM
