We have an upcoming opening for the full-time temporary position of Accounting Assistant for a one-year term. The successful candidate will have a diploma in business administration or accounting, one year of experience within a local government finance department or accounting firm, and a valid BC driver’s license.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Services, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for general accounting duties, support for a variety of financial functions and department backup as required. General duties include assisting Finance staff with bank and account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable processes and department filing. Strong computer skills, particularly with Excel and the ability to quickly learn accounting software, are a requirement for this position.

This is a temporary full-time position (35 hours/week) from approximately June 1, 2026 to May 28, 2027 with a wage of $32.14 per hour, plus 11% in lieu of vacation and all other benefits for an aggregate total of $35.68.
