CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT (FIXED-TERM, 12 MONTHS)
The Company
B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia, and Finland.
Position
Corporate Accountant (Fixed-Term, 12 months)
Introduction
Reporting to the Controller, the Corporate Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial reporting of the mine sites, supporting the accounting operations of the corporate office and maintaining compliance with internal control processes.
Location
This is a fixed-term position based at B2Gold’s Corporate Office in Vancouver, Canada, with flexible work arrangement available with potential for extension
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare allocated sub-consolidations on a quarterly basis;
- Review site reporting packages identify potential errors and ensure compliance with IFRS;
- Act as a primary liaison between Vancouver finance team and Mine site finance team for allocated sites;
- Manage preparation and review of employee receivables on a quarterly basis;
- Prepare Foreign exchange analysis and foreign exchange on cash proofs on a quarterly basis;
- Prepare detailed analyses for long-term investments, derivative portfolios, and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts as required;
- Review subsidiary trial balances on a monthly basis;
- Prepare and post complex journal entries and ensure proper supporting documentation is retained;
- Prepare monthly production and metal sales analysis;
- Prepare statutory financial statements for holding companies;
- Liaise with external and internal auditors;
- Manage intercompany billings and reconciliations across multiple entities and currencies;
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and support preparation of intercompany loan schedules;
- Ensure working papers prepared comply with SOX requirements;
- Manage preparation and review of monthly bank reconciliations for approximately 40 accounts managed from Vancouver;
- Review Statistics Canada filings as required;
- Mentor and support a team of three accounting clerks;
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required; and,
- Perform other duties as required in support of Company objectives.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field from an accredited university or college;

Accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) required;

Minimum five years of progressive post-designation experience with at least three years of supervisory/managerial experience;

Strong knowledge of IFRS or relevant accounting standards;

Advanced proficiency in Excel;

Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders;

Excellent analytical and organizational skills;

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities;

Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Job Demands/Physical Requirements:
- This position will be based at B2Gold’s corporate office in Vancouver, Canada, with a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on site + 1 day working from home); occasional international travel may be required.

B2Gold offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary commensurate with the candidate’s experience, knowledge and skill set, and a comprehensive benefit package for employees and their eligible dependents. The base salary range for this position is CAD $98,000 – 120,000 per annum, which is the anticipated pay at the time of hire but does not reflect similar future job opportunities. Details of the total compensation package will be shared during the interview process.
