Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Director of Clinical Services is currently looking to hire a temporary casual CTCS – Research & Training Consultant. The CTCS - Research & Training Consultant functions as an advanced applied research, training development, and program implementation specialist. The role supports the design, evaluation, and continuous improvement of structured mental health training initiatives and knowledge translation strategies that promote consistent, evidence-informed program delivery across service sites. The incumbent applies advanced expertise in research methodology, program evaluation, and implementation science to translate evidence-based psychological and behavioural health frameworks into scalable training tools, consultation resources, and system-level learning supports.

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church Street- Penetanguishene.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop research protocols, data collection strategies, and analytical frameworks to assess program effectiveness and implementation outcomes. Design, implement, and evaluate program evaluation initiatives to assess service effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Provide consultation to clinical teams and leadership regarding evaluation frameworks and service quality.
  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis, interpret results, produce reports and support quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational priorities including innovative approaches to program design, service delivery, and system improvement
  • Design, implement, and evaluate applied research and program evaluation initiatives related to mental health service delivery and training programs.
  • Design, develop and support the refinement of structured training programs for interdisciplinary mental health service providers.
  • Design competency-based training frameworks (ie. DBT, CPT), and learning tools informed by evidence-based mental health approaches aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Assist in the design and facilitation of consultation groups, including case-based learning and applied skill development.
  • Translate research evidence into practical tools, frameworks, and recommendations for clinical teams.
  • Support implementation of structured mental health programming through training supports and toolkits.
  • Contribute to organizational capacity building in evidence-informed practice, program evaluation, and implementation science.
  • Collaborate with program leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support training and implementation initiatives.
  • Provide expert input on behavioural science, research methodology, and implementation strategies.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to clinical training, service redesign, and system-level improvement.
  • Managers have the right to assign additional duties and schedule alternate work locations based on operational requirements.
  • Performs all work at all times in compliance with all hospital policies and procedures, legislation (Occupational Health & Safety Act, Fire Code, WHMIS,etc) relevant to health and safety, security and potential risk hazards.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Doctoral degree (PhD) in psychology or behavioural science from a recognized post-secondary institution required
  • Training in research methods, statistics, and program evaluation required
  • Experience in applied research, program evaluation, training development, and/or implementation science in health, mental health, or related systems required
  • Experience in developing or delivering training programs required.
  • Coordinating and managing mental health, substance use, public health, and/or health research and large-scale studies.
  • Conducting quantitative and/or qualitative data collection, analysis, interpretation, publishing, and reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of program evaluation frameworks and applied evaluation approaches in health or mental health systems.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and knowledge translation principles, including the translation of evidence into tools, frameworks, and system supports.
  • Knowledge of training design principles, adult learning theory, and competency-based education approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills in data interpretation, statistical reasoning, and synthesis of complex information and ability to translate complex research findings into practical, usable tools and system-level resources.
  • Ability to design, manage, and evaluate multi-phase applied research and evaluation projects.
  • Managing databases and working with Word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized statistical and qualitative software, as appropriate.
  • Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude

  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
