Inno-Hive is a grassroots Canadian charity that delivers technology-rich, hands-on learning experiences for children, youth, and adults. Our programs build practical skills through STEM and digital literacy, agri-tech and sustainable growing, circular economy, food security, and community-based innovation. Role Description
The Community Workshop Facilitator is a part-time, casual/contract opportunity supporting Inno-Hive programs across King City, the Greater Toronto Area, and partner locations across Ontario. Facilitators support hands-on workshops, community events, and learning experiences for children, youth, families, and adults.
This role may involve delivering activities in STEM, AI, digital literacy, agri-tech, circular economy, upcycling, composting, food systems, and other community learning topics. Facilitators will receive curriculum, kits, and training, and are not expected to be experts in every program area.
Responsibilities include preparing and setting up workshop materials, facilitating engaging activities, adapting delivery to different ages and learning needs, supporting participant engagement, collecting attendance and feedback, and helping maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment. Facilitators may also support partner coordination, event setup, outreach activities, and post-session reporting.
Inno-Hive is currently collecting applications and expressions of interest. Shortlisting and interviews are expected to begin in Fall 2026, subject to project funding, partner schedules, and program needs.
Qualifications
Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to explain concepts clearly and engage diverse audiences. Experience supporting workshops, camps, classrooms, youth programs, community programs, events, tutoring, coaching, or group learning. Comfort working with children, youth, families, and/or community members in an inclusive and respectful way. Interest in one or more of the following areas: STEM, AI, digital literacy, agri-tech, sustainability, circular economy, reuse/upcycling, composting, food systems, or community learning. Ability to follow lesson plans, safety procedures, privacy expectations, and reporting requirements. Reliable, organized, and comfortable with light setup, packing materials, and occasional outdoor delivery. Availability for some weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends, depending on program schedules. Ability to travel to King City and partner sites across the GTA/Ontario as needed. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check will be required before working with children or youth. Assets include experience with micro:bit, Scratch, MakeCode, Python, robotics, AI tools, gardening, composting, food security, project-based learning, additional languages, ASL, First Aid/CPR, or accessibility training.
