About the role
What is the opportunity?
Support the Regulatory Reporting Management team in providing accurate and timely financial information to the bank’s regulators, implementing process changes to drive efficiency or meet changing external requirement, and maintaining an exceptional control environment.
What will you do?
- Coordinate, prepare, and reconcile the regulatory returns to OSFI, BOC and CDIC at the RBC Consolidated or legal entity level in accordance with timelines for monthly, quarterly and year end deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, regulatory guidance, and operational guidance for assigned regulatory returns.
- Gather and consolidate financial information and conduct complex data analysis with large datasets working to identify patterns, trends or insights.
- Analyze reports and related data for completeness, accuracy, consistency with other reported financial information, and data quality issues.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, accounting guidance, and operational guidance for assigned financial disclosures and regulatory returns.
- Investigate queries and resolve issues on behalf of internal and external stakeholders with respect to regulatory returns
- Active participant in cross-training with other team-members to ensure team resilience and business continuity planning.
- Strong ability to scrutinize the process, and look for optimizations, to identify, propose, coordinate, implement, and test reporting solutions for new regulatory reporting initiatives/projects through interpreting requirements, and working with both audit and subject matter experts such as Accounting Policy Group, Platform Financial Controllers, Product Controllers, and Finance IT.
- Build automation and see them through the cycles of UAT and implementation in production,
- Assist on various medium/ large scale technology projects within the group and as a subject matter expert
- Manage or coordinate R egulatory, internal or external audits.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 2 - 4 years of experience in regulatory or financial reporting role, preferably in the financial
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance designation/background with IT qualifications Ability to critically think and challenge financial data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis
- Ability to independently propose solutions to problems and, leveraging business and strategic insights, recommend a course of action, despite incomplete information and complexity
- Ability to manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders
- Desire to challenge the status quo and make bold changes particularly with respect to streamline processes, increasing efficiency and furthering execution excellence.
- Ability to make complex subject matter easy-to-follow though strong written and oral-communication skills
- Ability to manage and analyze large data sets using advanced Excel functions and through other advanced tools and technology
