Position Overview Performs direct and indirect patient care activities and non-patient activities that are delegated and directed by the Therapist responsible for the care of the patient(s) and/or the Discipline Manager. Performs clerical duties for the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments as assigned. Performs reception and housekeeping duties in the departments as assigned.

Experience

  • Previous direct care patient experience in an acute care Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Department preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program is required.
  • Consideration may be given to individuals who are in the process of attaining an academic degree in Physiotherapy (PT) or Occupational Therapy (OT).

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Computer skills are required.
  • Must be fluent in both oral and written English communication and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment. Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that combine to equal more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
