THE OPPORTUNITY
Ram Iron & Metal is looking for a talented and experienced Torch Operator to join our Team. The Torch Operator, under the direction of the Supervisor of Operations, Welland, will be responsible for the safe operation of our torch equipment for cutting metals.

OVERVIEW
The successful candidate must be able exhibit exceptional attention to detail, physical dexterity, and a commitment to safety protocols. They will need to set up our cutting area, conduct regulator adjustments, check the hose, and torch conditions before operating.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES
- Cut material using a torch cutting apparatus-a 48-inch lance torch in a safe and effective manner.
- Perform pre-inspections of equipment.
- Change out compressed gas cylinders when required.
- Ensure materials are cut as per specifications, or industry standards.
- Use common cutting techniques that conserve torch parts and maximize production.
- Organize materials to have more effective use of space.
- Dispose of various waste materials in an appropriate manner.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to keep the yard clean and organized.
- Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listing above.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one (1) year of torch operating experience.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.
- Previous experience in scrap metal recycling or a related industry is an asset.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment is busy and fast paced, with regular and ongoing interactions with colleagues, management, and the public at large. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up/down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
