District Overview

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Location

Individuals selected for this position will be required to relocate or travel as assignments arise on various projects across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety - Participation in daily safety visits and meetings, working closely with workers to ensure that no one is injured and to plan the work to be done safely and eliminate risks at the source
  • Quality control and assurance - Conduct site visits and inspections, identify non-conformities and conduct follow-ups
  • Teamwork - Working closely with the team of workers, the project management team and engineering
  • Planning - Participate in the planning, scheduling and execution of daily construction tasks for their area of operation. Communicate the plan effectively with team members
  • Work Supervision - Supervises the work to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with applicable plans, specifications and standards. Identify site modifications to prepare drawings as constructed
  • Subcontract management - Management of subcontracts and materials contracts, payment request analysis, change request management, contract requirements management and field supervision
  • Performance monitoring - Participation in quantity progress reporting, analysis of progress and daily and weekly productivity. Ensure that the cost coding procedure is followed
  • Purchasing - Participate in the process of purchasing materials and other needs, monitor shipping and coordinate deliveries, ensure delivery schedules are met and orders are accurate
  • Construction equipment management
  • Materiel Management – Inspection upon reception, storage management and needs coordination
  • Development of work plans - Establishment of work methods, coordination between the various project stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of relevant industry experience preferred

  • Master's, Bachelor's or a college degree in electrical or mechanical engineering

  • The candidate must have a strong work ethic

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and devote the necessary time to the work

  • Strong organization and time management

  • Strong interest in the construction industry

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Can effectively perform the assigned tasks in various work environments and on different terrains (including various weather conditions)

  • Ability to work outside on a rotation schedule, or to relocate

  • Have a valid driver's license

Functional knowledge of English (written and verbal) is considered as an asset since mobility across provinces in Canada is required. Lessons can be provided as needed.

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
