We are actively seeking aBusiness Development Engineerto join our Business Development and Commercial team in Calgary. The Business Development Engineer undertakes technical and financial analysis to support the evaluation of a variety of assets and opportunities within the hydrocarbon value chain with a primary focus on upstream. By translating complex operational and financial data into actionable insights, the Business Development Engineer facilitates effective decision making. The flat structure of the company and diversity of projects provides an excellent growth opportunity for dynamic individuals who enjoy taking on new challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate corporate and asset acquisition opportunities quantifying value and effectively conveying risk and uncertainty.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Communicate insights from complex technical and market information through succinct verbal and written means, providing relevant updates to stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Monitor and analyze companies within the WCSB and historical commercial/purchase transactions to generate insights and actionable opportunities.
  • Manage acquisition and divestiture processes as required.
  • Provide support on the annual reserves process, ensuring corporate timelines are met and performing an independent review on the annual roll-up.

Competencies:

  • Experience in upstream development engineering and successfully managing project teams.
  • Highly collaborative and teamwork focused.
  • Ability to effectively assess and articulate risk and uncertainty.
  • Excellent communication skills allowing for effective conveyance of key messages/recommendations to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in discounted cash flow analysis (DCF); experience with Value Navigator is an asset.
  • Curious, nimble, humble and hard working.

Requirements:

  • Experience in engineering, business development, and/or corporate strategy.
  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions, corporate evaluations, or strategic planning preferred.
  • Some experience with energy midstream and/or marketing considered an asset.
  • Professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) or equivalent preferred but not required.
