Senior AI Developer
Company Overview
Our client is revolutionizing technical support through AI-powered solutions that help service providers and technology companies solve connectivity and network problems proactively—before customers need to contact support. They're transforming their platform to be AI-first and seeking a Senior AI Developer who excels at combining applied machine intelligence with practical engineering.
This is a remote-first hybrid role, with occasional onsite work in the Kitchener-Waterloo area
What You'll Do
- Develop agentic AI systems that address real-world connectivity and technical support challenges through strategic planning, tool utilization, and multi-step reasoning capabilities
- Spearhead comprehensive LLM evaluation initiatives focusing on safety, accuracy, hallucination prevention, contextual relevance, and performance optimization—ensuring optimal model selection for specific use cases
- Create robust prompt architectures and workflows supporting both voice and text-based interactions across diverse customer environments
- Mentor and guide engineering team members, enhancing the organization's capability to build agentic systems through design reviews, collaborative programming, and shared tooling development
- Collaborate closely with product and customer experience teams to understand user challenges and develop intelligent solutions
- Rapidly prototype concepts to validate approaches—then scale successful implementations
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI-powered products in production environments
- Expertise in LLM evaluation methodologies: tool accuracy, grounding verification, hallucination detection, prompt optimization, safety protocols, etc.
- Deep understanding of RAG architectures, multi-modal inputs, prompt engineering, and customer-specific customization strategies
- Applied knowledge of LLM observability, model selection criteria, and cost-performance optimization
- Background in startup or fast-paced product environments where ownership and rapid iteration are essential
- Track record of designing and implementing robust, scalable software systems
- Active experience with AI development tools (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Surfboard) and commitment to sharing best practices across the team
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities—someone who elevates team performance through knowledge sharing and constructive feedback
- Voice interface or conversational UX experience is highly valued
- Proficiency with modern development stacks (e.g., cloud platforms, Python, Node.js, React) and CI/CD methodologies
Not The Right Fit If...
- Your primary interest is building AI models or frameworks from the ground up
- Your expertise is exclusively in ML ops, backend pipelines, or foundational model training
- You prefer large, structured enterprise environments with narrowly defined responsibilities
Technical Stack
They leverage AWS cloud infrastructure (containers, serverless, databases), leading AI APIs, data platforms, and modern web/mobile technologies. Complete familiarity isn't required—but you should be comfortable rapidly adopting new tools and technologies.
About The Client
Our client is a SaaS company transforming how service providers handle technical support. Their AI-powered platform converts reactive support into proactive problem resolution—making connectivity issues faster to diagnose and easier to prevent.
They're a team that prioritizes ownership, velocity, and customer focus. They offer flexible work arrangements, competitive compensation, equity participation, and a collaborative environment for high-impact contributors.
