About the role

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Overnight Newborn Care (Independent Contractor) | Toronto & GTA

SuperNurse is a night-nursing company providing in-home support to families with newborns across the Toronto area. Our mission is to deliver skilled, evidence-based nursing care to healthy infants while allowing parents to rest and recover. We operate as a small team of experienced nurses, supported by a Nurse Practitioner medical director.

Position Overview We are hiring Registered Practical Nurses to provide overnight (8–10 hour) care for healthy newborns in clients' homes across Toronto and the GTA. Most shifts are overnight (e.g., 9:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.), with occasional daytime opportunities.

Start Date & Training Onboarding and training begin September 2026.

Scheduling Commitment We are looking for nurses who can commit to approximately 2–3 shifts per week, with the opportunity to take on up to 5 shifts per week based on availability and demand.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overnight newborn care, including feeding (bottle or bringing baby to mother for breastfeeding), diaper changes, and soothing to support healthy sleep routines. Offer parental support and education, answering questions and providing guidance during the newborn period. Perform light household tasks between feeds, including sterilizing bottles and pump parts, preparing feeds, and folding baby laundry. Maintain clear documentation of feeds, diaper changes, and sleep patterns to share with parents at the end of each shift. Communicate with the medical director as needed, escalating any clinical concerns.

Qualifications and Requirements

Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Professional Liability Protection (PLP) is required. Minimum 1 year of paediatric experience preferred. Experience in postpartum, labour & delivery, or newborn care is a strong asset. Current CPR certification. Ability to work overnight shifts and travel across the GTA. Strong communication skills and professionalism in a home-care setting.

Independent Contractor Role This is an independent contractor position. Nurses practise autonomously and are responsible for maintaining their own professional and business requirements, including appropriate insurance coverage.

Compensation & Benefits

From $33.00/hour, aligned with hospital rates. Flexible scheduling with consistent shift opportunities. Lower-acuity environment focused on healthy newborns, with a lighter workload and downtime during infant sleep periods.

About SuperNurse

Home Health Care Services
2-10 employees
Founded in 2025

Super Nurse was created for families who want experienced clinical support at home, not guesswork.

We provide daytime and overnight nursing care for newborns and babies under one year of age. Every Super Nurse is a regulated Registered Nurse with NICU, Labour and Delivery, or maternity experience, working under the oversight of our Medical Director, a Nurse Practitioner.

During overnight shifts, we take the night watch so you can truly rest, while your baby receives attentive, clinically informed care. During the day, we support feeding, monitoring, recovery, and the transition into early parenthood with the same level of professionalism and calm presence.

Families who become Super Nurse members also receive unlimited virtual access to our Nurse Practitioner for episodic concerns. When something feels off, you have direct medical guidance without the stress of urgent care or long emergency room waits.

Early parenthood is vulnerable. It is exhausting. It is overwhelming. You deserve support that feels both medically sound and deeply reassuring.

We bring hospital-grade expertise into your home so you can feel confident, rested, and present with your child.
