About the role

Children’s Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following positions:

Two Permanent Full-Time Resource Consultants

Union Position – 35 hours weekly

Hourly: $30.46 - $37.06

Responsibilities:

The Resource Consultant carries out duties in licensed childcare programs throughout the district of Thunder Bay, family homes, schools, and other community agencies. The primary responsibility will be to screen young children, to develop and implement treatment service plans in partnership with families and childcare programs and other service providers. Interventions focus on children who are experiencing developmental and/or behavioural challenges. The Resource Consultant will review the child’s progress with caregivers and Childcare Programs to ensure that the goals outlined in the child’s treatment plan are being achieved through intervention strategies.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Required

The Resource Consultant position requires:

  • An Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma, a Resource Teacher Post-Diploma Certificate and registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario

  • Two years’ experience working directly with children and their families in an inclusive childcare program

  • Knowledge of the range of theories applicable to child development

  • Knowledge and experience in working with children and families who require education, support, and treatment with respect to child development issues

  • A valid Ontario Driver's Licence

  • District Travel will be required.
