GEI Consultants Canada Inc. is seeking a full time Landscape Designer for our ecological restoration, arborist/forestry services, and natural heritage system design projects. The landscape designer would be part of GEIs ecological restoration team, which includes expertise in terrestrial and aquatic ecology, species at risk, landscape architecture, climate change, Indigenous engagement, environmental engineering, hydrogeology, and fluvial geomorphology. Our ecological design is based on climate projections, which strengthens the resilience of the habitats we create and ensures continued ecosystem services for healthier communities. The landscape designer position includes the preparation of grading and planting plans and preliminary cost estimates for natural channels, wetland, grassland, woodland and wildlife habitats, including habitats for species at risk. The landscape designer would also work with the arborist/forestry staff to prepare Tree Inventory Preservation Plan drawings.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Collaborate with GEI’s landscape architect, restoration ecologists, natural scientists, arborists, foresters, engineers and fluvial geomorphologists to provide ecological restoration services, including:

Produce conceptual designs and technical and tender ready drawings;

Design terrestrial and aquatic habitat grading and planting plans;
-
Draft preliminary cost estimates;
-
Prepare tree inventory preservation plan drawings;
-
Create restoration specifications/typicals for drawings and tender packages;
-
Conduct site visits to examine existing conditions, in progress construction, as built conditions, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design, or equivalent;
-
2 to 4 years’ experience in planting design and natural features grading preferred;
-
Knowledge of native vegetation communities and flora is an asset;
-
Experience in tree inventory surveys, tree preservation plan drawings and reporting considered an asset;
-
Experience working in and around watercourses considered an asset;
-
Experience in construction and contract administration is considered an asset;
-
Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil3D and Office required (formal training in AutoCAD an asset);
-
Competency in ArcGIS is an asset;
-
Experience with Bluebeam Revu an asset;
-
Creative, self-directed, and motivated to gain new knowledge and skills;
-
Strong written and verbal communication, organization and time management skills; and
-
Valid driver’s license and vehicle access (required).
