We’re looking for a Buyer to join our Purchasing team based in the 2777 Kingsway office in Vancouver, BC. This individual will report to the Supply Chain Manager

**Job Overview:**The Buyer will be responsible for full-cycle planning and procurement of assigned categories to meet the business needs.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Review inventory levels and requirements for Raw Materials, bar wrap; shop supplies; warehouse supplies; consumables; first aid supplies; maintenance items and order as needed to meet production deadlines
  • Assist in IQC (Incoming Quality Control) inspection and compile data along with Quality Assurance Team
  • Act as a primary liaison between the company and assigned suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong, professional supplier relationships
  • Coordinate regular business reviews and performance discussions
  • Conduct onsite supplier visits, audits, and facility assessments as required
  • Maintain information/resource database e.g. catalogues
  • Collaborating with R&D on new product development and reformulation projects
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers, ingredients, and materials
  • Obtain samples, specifications, technical documents, and certifications
  • Courier samples, to vendors (local & international) , including preparation of customs documentation for international shipments
  • Track vendor performance e.g. actual vs requested delivery date
  • Monitor and manage all backorders for assigned products
  • Liaise with ‘customers’ and purchasing dept to report anticipated or current stock shortages that may affect operations
  • Coordinate the processing or purchase requisitions and purchase orders as assigned
  • Track material cost movements and flag significant variances
  • Maintain supplier records, pricing agreements, and documentation
  • Assist the Purchasing dept as/when required
  • Ensure ERP data integrity (costs, UOMs, vendor terms, item setup)

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of buying / procurement experience (manufacturing or food industry preferred)
  • Are detail orientated, organized and capable of working to deadlines
  • Experience sourcing raw materials or ingredients strongly preferred
  • Exposure to R&D / innovation procurement is an asset
  • Can multitask, prioritize workload and make sound decisions
  • Have strong communication, cross collaboration and planning and organizational skills and proven problem-solving skills
  • Are flexible at handling work requirements - ability to adapt to change and work under pressure
  • Can work in a fast-paced, team-orientated environment
  • Mandarin language is an asset but not a requirement
  • Have expertise in Microsoft Excel (required), PowerBI, CSI 10 Syteline (ERP),
  • Candidates working towards a professional supply chain or purchasing certification will be an asset (APICS CSCP, SCMP, PMP)
