Our head office is currently searching for a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, reconciliations, analysis, and special projects and reports into the Controller.
Position Description
- Manages and coordinates the overall financial administration of the assigned division(s).
- Preparation and submission of monthly financial statements with full analysis and commentary to divisional leaders and the Corporate Accounting Department.
- Variance analysis on income and expenses as support to the monthly financial Statements.
- Maintain accounting records within MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Assists Regional Controller with annual audit and budget preparation.
- Assists assigned division(s) with business planning, trend analysis and forecasts.
- Assists with month end close, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and inter-company accounts.
- Provide assistance and guidance to divisional leaders to increase profitability and performance.
- Preparation of HST and Statistics Canada reports.
- Maintain/oversee timely vendor invoice processing and perform/oversee customer collections.
- Collaborate and challenge the assigned division(s) while providing recommendations that are supported by facts to improve divisional performance.
- Drive decision making by helping the respective Leadership Teams identify value-adding opportunities and create business cases.
- Perform other duties and special projects such as special expense, benchmarking and KPIs.
Skills & Qualifications
- Final year of CPA studies or CPA designation.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in working in fast paced, deadline driven accounting environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Excellent proficiency with productivity software, MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. (say advanced skills).
- Strong skills in using accounting software applications, in particular MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- MS Power BI experience is a plus.
- Analytical and structured approach coupled with hands on mentality to problem-solving aiming for continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of the business strategy and tactics.
- High reliability and data accuracy.
- Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills to function in a deadline driven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with employees at various levels of the organization.
- Eager to learn and grow with positive energy in changing environment.
