Position Summary
The Executive Housekeeper provides strategic and operational leadership for all housekeeping functions, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest readiness throughout guest suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role leads the housekeeping team, manages daily operations, and works closely with Front Office, Maintenance, and other hotel departments to ensure efficient room turnover and seamless service delivery. The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining quality standards, optimizing productivity and costs, supporting team development, and delivering an exceptional guest experience through a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service
- Ensure all guest suites and public areas meet The Sutton Place Hotel’s luxury cleanliness and presentation standards
- Address guest requests and housekeeping-related concerns promptly and professionally
- Support VIP room preparations, special requests, and arrival readiness to enhance the guest experience Operations & Department Oversight
- Direct daily housekeeping operations, including room assignments, inspections, public areas, and turnover efficiency
- Ensure all rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are clean, organized, and guest-ready
- Monitor productivity, room status updates, and coordination with Front Office to ensure timely room availability
- Manage linen, amenities, equipment, and cleaning supply inventories while maintaining effective cost controls Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop housekeeping leaders and team members, including managers, supervisors, room attendants, and housepersons
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and succession planning to maintain service and cleanliness standards
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused team environment Administrative & Reporting
- Manage departmental scheduling, labour planning, payroll, and expenses in alignment with occupancy, budgets, and operational needs
- Prepare and review operational reports, including room status, productivity, quality scores, maintenance issues, and departmental costs
- Maintain accurate records, policies, logs, and communication with hotel leadership and other departments
Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in housekeeping operations within an upscale hotel or resort environment, with a strong understanding of luxury cleanliness and presentation standards
- Proven experience managing a housekeeping department, including room inspections, turnover, public areas, labour planning, and quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemical use (WHMIS), and health and safety standards
- Experience managing inventory, linen programs, and housekeeping supply controls
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including team supervision, coaching, training, performance management, and employee development
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Front Office and Maintenance to ensure timely room readiness and issue resolution
- Strong financial, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Skills & Competencies
- Guest-focused mindset with a passion for creating memorable experiences
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
