Ashcroft Terminal and the PSA Group are seeking aPayroll Accountantto join our team. As the only private logistics terminal in Canada with CPKC & CN mainlines onsite, ATL is strategically located to help shippers, manufacturers, and producers prepare their commodities for export or import. As a member of PSA International, Ashcroft Terminal is part of a global network of supply chain professionals!
In the position ofPayroll Accountant,the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll in compliance with company policies, employment standards, and regulatory requirements. This role requires close collaboration with both the HR and Finance teams to gather, verify, and process payroll-related data, calculate wages and deductions, and support reporting and reconciliation activities.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
Payroll Support:
- Processing payroll for employees regularly, including calculations, deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Reviewing and validating timesheets and attendance records for accuracy.
- Handling payroll inquiries and providing support to employees regarding their compensation and related questions.
- Preparing and reconciling year-end payroll reports, including T4s.
- Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations and tax requirements.
- Collaborating with the HR department to update and maintain employee records, including salary changes, promotions, and terminations.
- Assisting in the preparation of various payroll reports for management and regulatory authorities.
- Participating in payroll audits and ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Preparing and submitting all statutory remittances and filings within established deadlines.
- Identifying opportunities to streamline payroll processes and implement improvements based on industry best practices.
Finance Support:
- Preparing regular and ad hoc reports for the finance department.
- Supporting the Finance team in preparing budgeting, forecasting, and projections related to payroll.
- Assisting in month-end and year-end financial close processes by providing payroll-related data and reports.
- Supporting the Finance department with additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
For success in this role, you must have:
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation from the National Payroll Institute.
Technical Requirements:
- Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing and administration.
- Solid understanding of federal and provincial payroll legislation, tax regulations, and statutory remittances.
- Proficiency in payroll software (ADP) and Microsoft Excel.
