About The Role
William Day Construction Limited is seeking an experienced Crushing “Operations” Manager to oversee all aspects of our crushing and screening operations. This senior leadership position is responsible for production performance, plant efficiency, workforce management, safety compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple crushing sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in aggregate processing, strong operational planning capabilities, and the ability to lead teams in high-demand, fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of crushing and screening plants to ensure production targets, quality standards, and client requirements are consistently met.
Production & Performance Management
Plan, coordinate, and monitor material processing volumes. Implement production strategies to maximize “on-spec” throughput, minimize downtime, and optimize equipment usage.
Team Management & Workforce Development
Lead and mentor supervisors, plant operators, and labourers. Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training to maintain a skilled and efficient workforce.
Safety & Compliance Oversight
Ensure all activities comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), company policies, and client-specific safety requirements. Conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations when required.
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Manager and maintenance teams to schedule repairs, preventive maintenance, and major rebuilds. Support troubleshooting efforts when operational issues arise.
Continuous Improvement
Identify operational inefficiencies, equipment bottlenecks, and workflow improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and profitability.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Act as a primary point of contact for clients regarding crushing operations. Attend meetings, provide production reports, address concerns, and support contract requirements.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
Oversee budgets, cost controls, equipment utilization, and operational forecasting. Maintain accurate documentation, including production reports, safety records, and compliance forms.
Site Planning & Logistics
Coordinate material movement, stockpile management, haul routes, and resource allocation to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in crushing and screening operations, aggregate processing, mining, or related industry. At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial or operational setting. Strong understanding of crusher and screener functionality, plant flows, and material processing. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites, crews, and operational priorities. Strong knowledge of OHSA regulations, site safety requirements, and risk management practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and production reporting systems. Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and remote work environments. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Criminal record check is mandatory. Availability for extended hours, shift work, and occasional out-of-town assignments as operational needs require.
