THE ROLE
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our finance team. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role is responsible for processing vendor invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end journal entries, and preparing required government reports. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and able to build strong vendor relationships while maintaining confidentiality.
Reports To: Senior Accountant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analysis and recording of revenue from Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
- Preparation of all Ministry reporting.
- Preparation and submission of periodic government reports on a timely basis.
- Calculation and recording of expense and payroll accruals and allocations as necessary.
- Preparation and recording of payroll journal entries.
- Preparation of financial reports and packages related to construction projects for new builds/renovations.
- Issuing payments by processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
- Overseeing accounts payable activities including monitoring vendor account balances, inquiries, and invoice processing.
- Communication with accounting and administrative personnel at homes regarding accounting issues.
- Regular review and analysis of balance sheet amounts.
- Preparation of other month end adjusting journal entries.
- Preparation of schedules for the year-end audit.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- College or university education in accounting or related area.
- Possesses strong computer and technology skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the integrity of financial documents.
- Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
