Job Opportunity Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging and rewarding position to join our Metallurgy Team.

Co-op Metallurgist Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Role Overview Reporting to the Young-Davidson Metallurgy Superintendent, the Co-op Metallurgist will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of an 8,000 tonnes per day mill and paste plant.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed understanding of the process flow sheets and operation of Young-Davidson milling operations.
  • Mentoring Mill Operators in the optimal operation of the flotation area.
  • Assist with minimizing Young-Davidson Mill Operations cost base by strategically minimizing media and reagent consumption. Maintain discipline by accurate reporting of consumption rates.
  • Assist in optimizing the paste plant operation to ensure the plant is operating to an optimal level.
  • Support accuracy and reliability of plant instruments for process and metallurgical accounting.
  • Complete daily, weekly & monthly metallurgical accounting duties as required.
  • Active involvement in processing plant commissioning tasks, providing robust product for the operating team and delivering on expected performance gains.
  • Identification and rapid implementation of improvement opportunities, actively seeking opportunities for increased free cash flow and reduced costs.
  • Actively look for an rectify hazards present in the field and plant.
  • Attend required daily operational, metallurgical and safety meetings.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Working towards Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
  • No experience required, we are looking for a 12-month Co-op Placement
  • Computer literacy skills in Word and Excel
  • Previous knowledge of grinding, flotation, CIL, carbon elution and refining operations is an asset
  • High level of commitment to improving the business through continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail in problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to meet safety and production targets
  • Completer / Finisher with demonstrated ability to approach tasks with tenacity and rigour.

Schedule : 4 days on, 3 days off , 10 - hour shifts OR Monday – Friday, 8 Hour shifts
