The Role
Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, this position relies upon well-developed knowledge of process operations, operational guidelines and control parameters for uranium mining, water treatment, slurry transport, and compliance with the underlying regulatory requirements for these processes.
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical support to process operations, ensuring optimal metallurgical performance of circuits, equipment, and systems
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve plant and process performance across process circuits
- Initiate and manage metallurgical projects to improve circuit performance, reagent optimization, and cost efficiency
- Establish, track, and report KPIs; leverage data to drive operational excellence
- Oversee daily metallurgy activities, ensuring equipment reliability, data quality, and process compliance
- Drive process control improvements, including automation and advanced control loops
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and project teams to align resources, meet project objectives, and deliver on production goals
- Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and innovation across the process circuits and underground operation
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, metallurgical, or mineral process engineering
- A minimum of eight years of hands-on experience as a plant metallurgist or similar technical role in mine/process plant operations
- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng), or international membership equivalent
- A demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, optimal environmental performance, and continuous improvement
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
- Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
Recommended:
- Demonstrated success optimizing metallurgical performance through data analysis, reporting, and process evaluation
- Ability to lead metallurgical teams, direct daily activities, and collaborate with operations and maintenance
- Experience developing and implementing process operation strategies, budgets, and improvement plans
- Familiarity with advanced process control systems and loop tuning for process circuits
- Background in automation and control optimization for process circuits
- Practical knowledge of reagent optimization, cost control, and consumables management
- Proficiency with modern data systems (e.g., OSIsoft PI Asset Framework, PI Vision, Power BI, SQL databases)
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office/365
- Prior experience with water treatment operations in mining
- Proven track record in managing small projects, technical studies, and operational trials
